General Description: An annual four part series from the United Nations (February-May) that connects students at multiple sites with each other to explore the work of the UN in today's turbulent world. Each program is 90 minutes.

Children and Armed Conflict

Conflict in Sudan : The Lost Boys Cost: $100
General Description:   " Sudan and the Lost Boys" program is to make humanity more aware of the consequences of war and related effects on the victims and the country at large. The program focuses on the past and current issues in Sudan . From first hand experience, the keynote speaker(s) give moving testimony to the plight of war affected children. Each program is 60 minutes.

Preys of War: The Liberian Conflict and Child Soldiers Cost: $150

General Description: This program provides a first hand Liberian account of the recent conflict in Liberia and the consequences for Liberia and the African continent. Through his experiences with child soldiers in West Africa , Dr. Carlon discusses the effect of this civil war on the lives of children. Each program is 60 minutes.

Human Rights Programs

From Words to Deeds Cost: $100

General Description: This year's human rights topic is Migration and Human Rights. Work with GEM before November 23rd and be prepared for participation in annual UN Student Conference on Human Rights that will be held on December 1 st at the United Nations and at various other locations around the world. After December 1 st the program is still available with follow-up information on the December 1 st conference. Program is 60 minutes.

Recognizing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Cost: $100

General Description: Listen and interact with well known Colombian athlete disabled by an accident in the gym when she was a teenager. Discuss with her human rights issues from the perspective of a person with disabilities. Program is 60 minutes

From Independence to Interdependence Cost: $250

General Description: Through the experiences of the Founding Fathers of the United States , explore the concept of Interdependence through their experiences in the 1765-1800 time period. Program is 60 minutes.

Globalization and Democracy Cost: $250

General Description: An international three part high school interactive mini-course offered in the spring of 2007 providing a global perspective on the concept of globalization and its effect on democratic systems.
Each program is 90 minutes.

General Description: Become a Rock detective to better understand Planet Earth in a global setting. "Rock Detective" is a Teacher's Choice, Award-winning program based on classroom-tested Earth Science mysteries. Program is 120 minutes. Includes bucket of reusable rocks, minerals and fossils. Cheetahs: Endangered Species Cost: $200

General Description: Two class periods. A two part series to introduce cheetahs and talk about big cats in general. One class period to stage The Cheetah Chase Challenge a mathematical predator vs. prey race.
Each program is 60 minutes.

General Description: An introduction to social responsibility in business to help students better understand its positive effects in our interdependent world. Program is 60 minutes.
