Project Overview
NJeTrips.net is a website and multimedia development project provided by a grant to the Garden State Distance Learning Consortium (GSDLC) by Verizon's Access New Jersey . This website is hosted, designed, managed and maintained by the Camden County Educational Technology Training Center (ETTC) on behalf of the GSDLC. The intent of this project is to provide an online resource for New Jersey 's educators to research, understand and sample videoconferencing-based distance learning content providers throughout the state and region. Additionally, this website provides an opportunity for the various content providers in the region to market, promote and further develop their videoconferencing programs to the educational community in the state of New Jersey and beyond.
This website provides a virtual tour of the state of New Jersey through the various highlighted content providers utilizing web-based multimedia content and online video streams. Visitors to the site can virtually meet experts and educators from the content providers themselves and explore their sites. Through this online exploration teachers can further understand the educational value of those sites and the potential of their distance learning programming. Each featured content provider on NJeTrips.net will include a video virtual tour and sample distance learning lesson, text overview, listing of distance learning based programs and contact and scheduling information. Additionally, the general site will provide links to other valuable distance learning resources.
In the Summer and Fall of 2006, during Phase I of the project, ten distance learning sites throughout the state have been selected to be highlighted and included on the site.
